In the past ten years she struggled with multiple sclerosis and became an advocate for people with disabilities; assisting many people over the internet on how to live successfully in the face of personal adversity.
Kathie grew up in Missoula, Montana and was a lover of animals and nature. She had a passion for horses and was a member of the American Paint Horses Association.
She is survived by her daughter, Danielle Duncan; granddaughter, Gwendalynn Duncan; son-in-law, Seth Duncan; her mother, Antonia Smith; sisters, Keni Stelling and Kim Smith; and brothers, George, Gary, Greg and Glenn Smith.
Kathie is preceded in death by her husband, Gary Olson, father, Kenneth Smith, and sister, Karen Taylor.
She was a dear friend to many and an advocate for the human condition. She was well known by friends and family as a woman with a big heart. She would have given her last breath to a friend in need.
"It was with poignant hearts that we send this beautiful person to the next life with her husband, Savior, and God. To those who will miss her, please know this is not the last of the good deeds she will do. She will always have work to do in helping those around her; there is simply a bigger project she must work on now." (In tribute by daughter, Danielle.)
