Ada "Granny" Smith Gillespie, 92, of Greenville, loving wife of the late James William Gillespie for 66 years, died February 18, 2010.

Born in Greenville County, she was a daughter of the late William Alfred and Janie Rigdon Smith.

Mrs. Gillespie was a homemaker and a member of Bible Heritage Pentecostal Holiness Church.

She devoted her life to loving and caring for her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughters, Barbara O'Bryant and husband, Horace, of Easley, S.C., and Carolyn Charping and husband, Gene, of Greenville, S.C.; a special granddaughter, Pamela Cisson of the home; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and a special niece, Mary Ann Smith, who loved and cared for her during her last few years.

She was predeceased by her daughter, Patricia Hunt; and son-in-law, Robert Hunt.

The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, February 20, 2010, in the chapel of Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest, with burial following at Graceland Cemetery, West.

Visitation will be prior to the service from 1:45 to 2:45 p.m.

Memorials may be made to the Cancer Society, 113 Mills Avenue, Greenville, SC 29605.

The family will be at 4 Ross Street-Brandon, Greenville, S.C.
