Mrs. Caroline Viola Allen, 73, of 92 South st., Eatontown, died early last Thursday morning at the Georgetown university hospital, Washington, D.C. Mrs. Allen had been ill several months and two months ago had gone to Washington to live with her daughter, Mrs. Mary A., wife of Gordon C. Biddle.

Mrs. Allen was born at Oceanport, daughter of the late Enit and Caroline Ayres Smith. She had been a resident of this area all her life and was the widow of Henry Osborn Allen, form coal, fuel and feed dealer of Eatontown, who died in 1946. Mrs. Allen was a member of St. John's Episcopal chapel, Little Silver.

Surviving besides Mrs. Biddle is a granddaughter, Carol Ann Biddle.

The funeral was held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Worden funeral home, with Rev. Roger J. Squire, pastor of the Red Bank Methodist church, officiating. Burial was in Glenwood cemetery, West Long Branch.
