MRS. H. DE GROOT SUCCUMBS APRIL 26
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the First Reformed church for Mrs. Herman De Groot of Orange City.
She died Saturday, April 26, after a lingering illness.
Rev. H. Colenbrandor officiated at the services. Pallbearers were Clarence Vander Laan, Mike Baker, Arthur Hulstein, Abe Schiebout, Cornie A. De Groot and Henry C. De Groot. Van Etten funeral home was in charge of arrangements. Interment was in the Orange City cemetery.
Mrs. De Groot, nee Annie Smith, was born November 3, 1896, at Glen Rock, New Jersey.
She came to Sioux county with her parents in 1913. She was married October 4, 1916, at Hills, Minn., to Herman De Groot.
They lived in Sioux Center, farmed in Sioux county and in South Dakota, and operated stores at Middleburg and Maurice.
They moved to Orange City 19 years ago, and Mr. De Groot has worked as a carpenter.
She is survived by her husband; and one brother, John Smith of Grand Rapids, Mich.
