Funeral services for Mrs. Margaret M. Goddard, 88, longtime Hawarden resident who died Thursday at the Hawarden hospital, were held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the Associated church with Rev. Herbert Young officiating. Burial was in Grace Hill cemetery under the direction of the Barnard-Dow funeral home.

Mrs Goddard was born November 25, 1877 in Frost, Ohio a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Smith. She married Webster Goddard at Bartlett, Ohio, February 26, 1898. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversity in 1948. Most of their married life was spent in and near Hawarden. Mr. Goddard died February 21, 1954 and a few years ago Mrs.Goddard moved in with her daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Williams. She was also preceded in death by a son in infancy. Mrs. Goddard was a member of the Associated church, its Women's Fellowship and sewing circle.

Survivors include one daughter Mrs. Williams of Hawarden; two sisters, Mrs. Lura Cole and Mrs. Carye Hamilton, both of Hawarden; one brother, Harry L. Smith of Waukegan, Ill; 3 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
