Shirley M. Bohanan, age 69, of Gilson, Illinois died at 12:30 P.M. on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at OSF St. Mary’s Medical Center in Galesburg, Illinois.
She was born on April 19, 1948 in Knox County, Illinois the daughter of Harry and Cecila McLaren Smith. She married Don L. Bohanan on January 31, 1972 in Galesburg, Illinois. He survives of Gilson, Illinois.
Surviving are two daughters: Star (Richard) Lucas of Cedar Hill, Missouri and Marie (Creighton) Hoskins of Galesburg, Illinois; one son: Bill Bohanan of Gilson, Illinois; Seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren; one brother, Ted (Pam) Smith of Abingdon, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, one brother and one grandson.
She worked for the former Galesburg Mental Health Research for ten years and then Henry C. Hill Correctional Center in Galesburg for 20 years retiring in 2012. She enjoyed watching TV and reading. She liked animals and going out to eat.
Private graveside services was held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at the Gilson Cemetery in Gilson, Illinois. Memorial contributions may be made to the Family.
