Donald (Donny) L. Smith
1949-2015

Donny Smith, age 66, passed away peacefully in Salt Lake City, UT, on November 20, 2015, due to complications of a stroke. He was a beloved brother, son, and uncle.

He was born on July 13, 1949 in Pocatello, Idaho, to Elmo and Mickey Smith. He lived most of his life in Granger, Utah, graduating from Granger High School in 1967. He served the US Army during the Vietnam era.

Donny was a member of the LDS church. He loved to play sports and participated in baseball and basketball in his youth. He liked to play billiards and spent many hours with friends at the Delton Bowling Lanes. He was an avid learner and enjoyed taking classes at the University of Utah. His favorite subject was physics.

Donny was a kind and gentle person who will be missed. We are happy to know he is reunited with our family now.

He was preceded in death by his parents Elmo and Mickey (Orel) Smith.

He is survived by three brothers: Kent (Alice), of Gray Court, SC, Greg (Ina Mae), of Layton, UT, and Kevin (Lynne) of Tooele, UT; and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

We appreciate the care provided by IHC, Veterans Hospital, and Mt. Olympus.

Graveside services will be held Monday, November 23, 2015 at 12 p.m. at the Utah Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bluffdale, Utah.

Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
