She was born December 27, 1919 in Knoxville, Ill., the daughter of Walter E. and Blanche Brooks Smith. She married Cornelius "Connie" Maher in Hannibal, Mo. on August 3, 1939. He preceded her in death on September 7, 1994.
She is survived by two great grandchildren, Tyler and Ethan Soper; two sister-in-laws, Mary E. Smith and Jeanne Maher and two nieces, Sandy Klien and Carol Thelen. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sons, Joe Maher on November 25, 1985 and John F. Maher on July 21, 2005, her granddaughter, Tami Soper, two brothers and two sisters.
She worked as an assembler for Gale Products for 27 years, retiring in 1981. Iva was a member of the Ralph M. Noble American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church and a member of the Altar and Rosary Society.
Cremation will be accorded as per her wishes. Graveside services are scheduled for 1:00 pm Monday, December 3, 2012 in St. Joseph Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, American Diabetes Society or to the Charity of the Donor's Choice.
