Mrs. Ida Irean [sic, Irene] Douglas, a native and resident of Monmouth for a number of years, died at 8:30 Friday night in her home, 592 East Grove, after a lingering illness. She had been quite sick for twelve weeks.
Ida Smith was born December 21, 1876 at Monmouth. She grew up and attended schools around Monmouth, and was married to William Gordon Douglas on January 30, 1887. The couple came here thirty years ago to live. Mr. Douglas died May 30, 1930.
She leaves six children, Mrs. Bessie Dunbar of Henderson, Mrs. Hattie Kelso, Mrs. Olive Gunther, Harry, Ray and Charles Douglas, all of Galesburg; two sisters, Mrs. E. E. Ryner of Alexis and Mrs. Bertha Holtsclaw of Galesburg; a brother, Edward Smith, of White Cloud, Kansas; eleven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Three children preceded her in death, Edward and John Douglas, and Mrs Ruthie Munson. Mrs. Douglas attended the Methodist church.
Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon from the Kimber and West chapel, conducted by Rev. J. Alfred Johnson. Burial will be in Memorial Park.
