She was born in Indianapolis and moved to Goshen as a child with her parents. She graduated from Goshen High School in 1911 and later attended Indiana University at Bloomington where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta. She came to Muncie with her husband in 1919.
Mrs. Banta was a representative of Civic Newcomer Association for many years prior to her retirement. She was a member of High Street United Methodist Church, Psi Iota Xi Sorority and Paul Revere Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution. She was also a member and past president of Ball Hospital Auxiliary and a member of Theta Alumnae.
Services will be held at Meeks Mortuary at 4 p.m. Friday. Entombment will follow in Elm Ridge Mausoleum. Friends may call at the mortuary from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and any time prior to the services Friday.
