A celebration of life has been held for Donald L. "Larry" Starbuck of Springfield, who died March 28, 2011 of cancer. He was 71.

He was born May 6, 1939, in Klamath Falls to Donald and Vernie Bryant Starbuck. He married Betty Lou Paul on April 22, 1960, in Roseburg.

He was a 1957 graduate of Myrtle Creek High School. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1957 to 1959 in Camp Pendleton, Calif., and spent the rest of his career in police and security work. He was an Oregon State Police officer from 1962 to 1969 in Coquille, served on the Valdez, Alaska, police force in 1977-78, and worked security for the Alyeska Pipeline in Valdez for 23 years until his retirement in 2000.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Kathy Nasholm of Springfield; a son, Clay Starbuck of Deer Park, Wash.; two sisters, Deloris Driskill of Riverside, Calif., and Gladys Hasbargen of Cottage Grove; and 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

His burial location is unknown.
