Arlene June Bergman, of Elgin, Nebraska, passed away Thursday, January 30, 2014 at the Boone County Health Center, Albion, Nebraska. Arlene daughter of Henry and Isabella (Wegner) Stelling, was born November 28, 1929 at Ewing, Nebraska.

Arlene graduated from Orchard (NE.) Public School in 1947 and taught at schools in Orchard, Brunswick and Neligh, Nebraska areas for five years.

On October 28, 1951, Arlene married Bobbie Reuben Bergman at St. Peter's Lutheran Church south of Orchard, Nebraska. To this union, six children were born: Mavis, Reuben, Roger, Deanna, Jeanine and Byron. The couple made their home and raised their family on the Bergman farm, 9 miles northwest of Elgin, Nebraska. Bobbie passed away on July 21, 1973 and Arlene continued with the farming operation with the help of her family. In July 1976, Arlene purchased and remodeled a home in Elgin, Nebraska and moved to town in 1977.

Arlene was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Elgin, Nebraska was a member of the Ladies Aid, and taught Sunday school for a number of years. Arlene enjoyed reading, cooking, restoring old furniture, gardening, growing flowers and sewing. She enjoyed being a licensed reflexologist, massage therapist, studying homeopathic health.

Arlene is survived by: children, Mavis Bergman of Neligh,Nebraska, Reuben (Roxanne) Bergman of Clearwater, Nebraska, Roger (Nancy) Bergman of Orchard, Nebraska, Deanna (Dean) Bly of Neligh, Nebraska, Jeanine (Kenny) Jochum of Elgin, Nebraska and Byron (Lorie) Bergman of Elgin, Nebraska; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; sisters, Alys (Bill) Kruger of Clearwater, Nebraska, Loretta (Gilbert) Foote of Orchard, Nebraska and MaryElaine Wilkinson of Clearwater, Nebraska; brother, Richard (Darlene) Stelling of Orchard, Nebraska; brother-in-law: Delmar Pfanstiel of McLean, Nebraska and a host of relatives and friends.

Arlene was preceded in death by: parents; husband, Bobbie Bergman; granddaughter, April Dawn Bergman; great-grandson, Kaden Eaton; sister, Elda Pfanstiel; two brothers and two sisters in infancy.

Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at Grace Lutheran Church, Neligh, Nebraska with Reverend David Kuhfal as officiator.
