Lula J (Stethem) Schriner was born to Dwight and Ella Jane Stethem on May 3, 1904 at Prosser and was departed this life on June 17, 1963 at Franklin. She reached the age of 59 years, one month and 14 days. She was baptized at the Bloomington Methodist Church May 29, 1950.
On February 14, 1923 she was united in marriage to Harvey E Schriner at Red Cloud. To this union was born eight children, Leo of Chamberlain South Dakota, Wayne of St. Paul, LaVaughn of Lincoln, Jane of Bloomington, Jenny Lee of Hampton, Virginia, Margie and Caroll of Hastings, Jeanette of Riverton. Her husband, Harvey, and all eight children and twenty-one grandchildren are left to mourn her loss. She leaves one sister, Mrs. Nellie West of Pueblo, Colorado and two brothers, Charles and Guy of Martin, South Dakota; and a host of relatives and friends.
Those preceding her in death are her parents, five sisters and two grandchildren.
She and her husband spent their entire lives on farms near Riverton and Bloomington communities until last summer when they moved to Franklin. Here she spent the remaining days of her life enjoying her flowers and home.
She was a kind and loving mother and she will be greatly missed by her family and many friends, as she was always ready to give her time to anyone who needed help. One of her greatest joys was to have all her family together.
Funeral services were held at the Franklin Methodist Church at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 20. Rev. Raymond W. Sandsted officiated.
Bruce Bean soloist furnished the music accompanied by Miss Alma Kleen.
Pallbearers were Max Robinson, Harley Bradshaw, Francis Grace, Glen Gardner, Allen Hogeland and Clarence Grube.
Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery.
A precious one from us has gone,
A Voice we love is stilled;
A place is vacant in our home,
That never can be filled.
God in his wisdom can recall,
The love the doomed is given;
And tho her body slumbeth now,
Her soul is safe in Heaven.
