Lou was born May 24, 1931 in Redmesa, Colorado, the ninth child of Ammon Cannon and Amy Jane Roberts Stevens. She was married to H Darwin Harvey (no period following "H") in 1952. They had four children; Jim, Dave, Diana and Lisa. In 1988 she was married and sealed to Gordon Wilford Bailey in the Los Angeles Temple. Gordon preceded her in death on September 14, 2010.
Lou worked at Bay Area Travel in Santa Monica, California as a bookkeeper for over twenty years until retirement in 1998. As a single mother, she raised four young children and bought a home in Los Angeles on a bookkeepers salary, all the while keeping an immaculate home and finding time for church activities. Lou and Gordon were a happy couple living together for 22 years in Westchester, California and later moved to Jamestown Assisted Living in Orem, Utah in 2008.
Lou and Gordon loved to travel. Together they explored many places around the world. Lou was known for her service to others and for her energetic spirit which she brought to every project. She was an excellent cook and quilter. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and held many ward and stake callings.
She is survived by 2 sons-James Harvey(UT), David Harvey(NV), 2 daughters-Diana Vega Harvey(CA), Lisa Tso(CA), 5 Stepchildren-Diane Huish, Maxine Johnson, Kathy Nuttal, Steve Bailey, Michael Bailey, 5 Sisters-Beth, Christine, Bonnie, Marjorie, Marva, 2 Brothers-Carl, Hubert plus 8 Grandchildren, 2 Great Grandchildren, 21 Step Grandchildren and 28 Step Great Grandchildren.
Funeral services are scheduled on June 18, 2011 at the El Segundo Stake Center; 1215 E. Mariposa Ave El Segundo, California; from 11am-12:30pm. Interment will immediately follow at Inglewood Park Cemetery.
