OUT-OF-TOWN-SOCIETY
Pasadena.
Aside from the tea dansant (a tea dance) given Wednesday afternoon at the Valley Hunt Clubhouse by Mrs. Louis Blankenhorn of Markham street, introducing formally her daughter, Miss Barbara Blankenhorn into society, there were few functions of social importance. At this tea dans ant the younger members of the four hundred were noticeable and the affair was charmingly appointed. Presiding in the dining room were Mmes. Albert Sherman Hoyt, Charles Frederick Holder, Charles D. Daggett and Benjamin Folsom. Mrs. Blankenhorn and daughter received alone, and the hours of entertainment, between 4 and 7, were spent in dancing in the ballroom.

Many Mourn Passing Of Pioneer Here
Mrs. Blankenhorn, In City Since '82, Dies Suddenly
Mrs. Lillian Stevens Blankenhorn, who came to Pasadena 53 years ago before a railroad ran into the town and who, as a member of the Valley Hunt Club participated in the early New Year's Day celebrations which developed into the Tournament of Roses, died yesterday at her home, 536 Bradford Street, after a short illness. She was 77 years old.
Soms Prominent Here
The widow of the late Louis Blankenhorn , she was the mother of David, Louis and George Blankenhorn, who have been well known in Pasadena civic and business life for a number of years. In earlier years the Blankenhorn Realty Company was one of the best known in Pasadena.
A native of Wisconsin, she was of true pioneer stock. Her father was the late George C. Stevens, pioneer breeder of fine horses, Milwaukee flour mill operator and later collector of the port of Milwaukee. Three horses raised on the Stevens' ranch in West Milwaukee, which is now the site of the Wisconsin State Fair Grounds, were brought West in the early days and won many of the biggest stake races. Included among them were the famous American Girl and California Belle.
In Boom of '87
Mr. And Mrs. Blankenhorn came to Pasadena in 1882 and Mr Blankenhorn immediately plunged into the real estate business, taking part in the wild boom of '87. Mrs. Blankenhorn became a member of the First All Saints Episcopal Church in Pasadena which, at that time, was located on the site of the present postoffice. She and her husband also were among the organizers and for many years members of the Valley Hunt Club.
A woman entirely devoted to her family and its rearing, Mrs. Blankenhorn became known and loved by many Pasadena residents, all of whom mourn her loss. Only her most intimate friends knew of her joy in quiet charities and philanthropies which she carried on to the limit of her means.
