THREE DEATHS OF EX-SLAVES IN THREE DAYS
Grim Reaper Takes Toll Among Local Negroes
For three successive days this week, there has been recorded the death of aged negroes in this city, all of them ex-slaves who were brought here in that period when the Civil War was brewing. This fact was pointed out by H. P. Ware, in conservation with a Register reporter today.
The first death was that of Frank Forman, who passed away last Monday. He was brought to this county by W. W. Forman, one of the early settlers.
On Tuesday, the death of John Rollie, 80 years old, was recorded. John was a well known character in this city, having been employed by the late Joe Honeycutt, who conducted a livery business here for many years. He also worked for Cheaney Bros. after the purchased the business from Mr. Honeycutt. John was an ex-slave.
On Wednesday night at 11:30 o'clock, Burrell Stone, age 73, passed away at the home of a negro on Weaver street. Stone had been in the employ of H. P. Ware for thirty years. His funeral will be held Friday.
