Sarah Ann Taylor Stoner, a long -time resident of Madison, AL passed away on July 3, 2015 surrounded by her family. She was born on September 14, 1930 to Alice May Zinky and Harry Roland Taylor, Jr. in Jacksonville, FL and moved with her family to Madison, AL in 1935. Sarah attended Madison School and graduated as class valedictorian in 1947. She continued her education at Athens College majoring in business.
Sarah taught at Madison School prior to going to work for the U.S. Army Missile Command at Redstone Arsenal, AL in 1953. She received many commendations for her work as an International Logistics Specialist before her retirement in 1978.
Sarah had a passion for painting and produced many beautiful works of art inspired by nature. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, volunteering in her community and had a loving heart and wonderful smile that could light up a room.
She is proceeded in death by her husband, John D. Stoner, Jr., and survived by her daughter, Alice Tucker (Charles) of Madison, AL; son, John D. Stoner, III (Melanie) of Madison, AL; nine grandchildren; four great grandchildren; sister, Betty Taylor Drake (Billy) of Athens, AL; two nieces; and a host of family and friends.
Visitation will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Madison, AL on Wednesday, July 8 at 10:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. and internment at Maple Hill Cemetery, Huntsville, AL.
