Born April 18, 1941 in the Woodlawn section of The Bronx, New York, she was the daughter of the late Timothy and Jane Sullivan, and sister to the late Timothy, Jr.
She was predeceased by her husband Dennis, and son Danny. She is survived by her son Dennis and daughters Jennifer Murray, (Steve), Jane Rourke (Chris) and Elizabeth Rapuano (Marc); five grandchildren: Mary, Peter, and Bobby Murray, and Kiernan and Chase Rourke; and one nephew and three nieces.
Jo-Ann graduated from St. Barnabas High School in The Bronx, and then received her nursing degree at the Bellevue School of Nursing in New York City. She practiced as a Registered Nurse at Bellevue Hospital.
Jo-Ann lived her life with uncompromising devotion to her family and friends. She was selfless, compassionate, and honest with a caring guidance - not only through words, but also through example. Her love was always unqualified.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, September 15, 2011 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Pelham Funeral Home, 64 Lincoln Avenue, Pelham, New York. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, September 16, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 575 Fowler Avenue, Pelham Manor, New York.
Interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Valhalla, New York.
