Diane Sun Lee, resident of Belmont, passed away peacefully at home in Belmont on June 1, 2010, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Loving and beloved daughter of Lilly Sun and Stephen Sun (both deceased.) She is survived by her loving sisters Gail, Lorraine, Janice; brother Robert; sister-in-law Maggie; brothers-in-law Dwight, Alan, and many aunts, cousins, nephews, nieces. During her illness, she managed to run marathons in Hawaii, Boston, Chicago, New York; and in November of 2009 participated in a Habitat for Humanity project in China where she build homes and met President Jimmy Carter. Diane loved to explore new things and places, and traveled for business and pleasure to cities in Europe, Russia, Taiwan and the Netherlands. Born in San Francisco, she graduated from UC Berkeley with an MA in Applied Mathematics. Diane had a long and distinguished career as a research and software engineer and manager for SRI International, Sun Microsystems, and most recently Oracle. She was a recipient of numerous awards and held a patent. A private memorial service will be held for family. Friends are invited to join the family for a celebration of Diane's life on Saturday, June 26, 2010 at 11:30 a.m., Hong Kong Flower Lounge, 51 Millbrae Ave., Millbrae CA. In lieu of flowers, remembrances can be sent to Diane's favorite charities: Breast Cancer Connection, Sutter VNA Hospice, Second Harvest Food Bank, Project Open Hand, Habitat for Humanity, Susan G. Koman.
