SWEENEY –KATHRYN P. BALLORD, 70, of 781 S. Main St., Athens died Tuesday Feb. 9, 1988 at the Bradford County Manor following a brief illness. Mrs. Ballord was born in Troy, Pa. on July 9, 1917, the daughter of George H. and Elizabeth E. Peters Sweeney.
She had been a resident of the Valley for 48 years and was a member of the Athens First Church.
She is survived by her husband, Earl Ballord at home; one son, Robert Fox, Athens; one daughter, Mrs. Randy (Kathy) Pettit, Waverly, two step-daughters: Mrs. Lee (Pamela) Diehl, Sayre and Mrs. Frank (Ann) Marsicane, Whitesboro, N.Y.; a daughter-in-law, Loretta Fox, Bradford, Pa.; three granddaughters and three grandsons; one brother, Willard Sweeney, Canton and two nieces.
She was preceded in death by a son, James Fox in 1983.
Friends may call at the Jenkins Funeral Home, 111 South Main St., Athens on Thursday from 6-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Paul Diehl officiating. Burial will be in Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens. Memorials may be directed to the Spalding Memorial Library, Athens.
