Regina (Jean) Best, of Mill Street, Pittston, died Saturday at Dorrance Manor, Kingston. Born in Avoca, she was the daughter of the late Frank Hobbs and Mary Sweeney. She attended Avoca schools. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, Pittston, and its Altar Rosary Society. She was preceded in death by her husband, William J. Best; sisters Adelaide DeHoba, Margaret Schweitzer, Hazel Jones, and Helen Granahan; brothers John Hobbs, Gerald Hobbs, Francis Hobbs, Edward Hobbs, William Hobbs, and Kenneth Hobbs. Surviving are sons Donald, Linden, N.J.; Thomas, Pittston; daughter, Rita Brown, Nazareth; brother, Joseph Hobbs, Avoca; sister Agnes Clark, Avoca; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday from the Donnelly-Callahan Funeral Home, 802 Susquehanna Ave., West Pittston, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in St. John the Evangelist Church, Pittston. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday.
