Mrs. Friant.

SAUNEMIN. Mrs. Emma J. Friant [nee Emma Talke Johanna Tammen], 68, Saunemin, died at 6:20 a.m. today at the Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, where she had been a patient a month.

A private funeral will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. at the Stewart Funeral Home in Cullom, with the Rev. Orville Kalkwarf officiating.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Friant was born Jan. 27, 1909 at Fulda, Minn., a daughter of Henry and Margaret (Schmidt) Tammen. She was married to Elmer Friant at Goodland, Ind., Dec. 14, 1935. They have lived in the Saunemin area 33 years.

She was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Pontiac.
Surviving are her husband; a daughter, Mrs. Lois Immke, Saunemin; three sons, Elmer H. "Sonny," Fairbury; Otis, Towanda, and Paul, Pontiac; four brothers, Henry Tammen, rural Pontiac; John, Gridley; Arnold, Ludlow; and Alfred, Pontiac; three sisters, Mrs. Margaret Locker, Pontiac; Mrs. Lydia Goeken, West Union, Iowa, and Mrs. Anna Janssen, Fulda, Minn., and eight grandchildren.

Four sisters and two brothers preceded her in death.

The family suggests memorials to the Cancer Fund."
