MILDRED TAYLOR
Mildred I. Taylor, 85, of Wadestown, WV died Friday, March 10, 2017 at her residence.
She was born March 31, 1931 at Wadestown, a daughter of the late Russell Price and Orpha Cross Tennant. She spent 4 years in the home of Ray and Nell Thomas as an adolescent.
She was married to Thomas G. Taylor on March 23, 1949, who precedes her in death on August 31, 1990.
Mildred was known for her meticulous sewing skills as she sewed for many woman in the Wadestown area in the 60’s and 70’s. She worked a short time at the drapery factory in Mannington, but spent most of her years as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was an avid reader and loved to go to yard sales. Most of all she loved spending time with her family and her cats, Bear & Buddy.
She was a member of the West Warren Baptist Church in Wadestown.
Surviving are one son, Thomas G. Taylor, Jr. of Monongah; one daughter and husband, Karen Larew and Marvin of Wadestown; grandchildren, Christina Rice & Jason of Enterprise, Tracy Taylor of Los Angeles, Charity Smerdell and Tommy Shumiloff of Wana; Travis Taylor and Tammie of Kill Devil Hills, NC, Justin Taylor of Fairmont, and Dakota Taylor & Danielle of Monongah; fourteen great-grandchildren; one brother, Joseph Tennant and his wife Sheila of Wadestown; sister-in-law, Rosalee Riggs of Wadestown; sister-in-law, Margaret Price of Morgantown, and sister-in-law, Mary Dale Price of Blacksville; step-sister, Doris Simpson of Wana; several nieces and nephews; Vic Wise and Regina Wise Myers who were like siblings to her and a special friend, Melanie Estel.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, George Price, Russell Price, Jr., and Lawrence Price; one sister, Shirley Mace; one step-brother, Hershel Tennant; and three step-sisters, Aldine Johnson, Louise Hibbs, and Martha Jane Gallagher.
Friends may call at the Tennant Funeral Home, 2678 Hornet Highway, Hundred from 2-4 & 7-9 PM Monday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11:00 AM Tuesday with Pastor Bob Scharnhorst and Pastor Larry Harker officiating. Interment will follow in the Wadestown Cemetery.
