Final Rites Held For Mrs. Lester Beardsley
Graveside services for Mrs. Lester Beardsley, 63, of Hopkins, and a former resident of the Elysian community, were held here at Cedar Hill cemetery Thursday afternoon. She died enroute to the hospital following an automobile accident in Minneapolis.
Mr. and Mrs. Beardsley and Mrs. Estella Olson, all of Hopkins, were returning from the cemetery at Fort Snelling, where they had gone to decorate the grave of Jasper Beardsley, son of Mr. and Mrs. Beardsley, who was killed in 1945 during World War II. They were driving west on Lake Street when they collided with another car at the corner of Dupont Avenue.
Mr. Beardsley, 64, was taken to the hospital, but was able to be released Wednesday. Mrs. Olson was not injured. The driver of the other car was not injured, but his wife was hospitalized.
The former Minnie Taylor, Mrs. Beardsley was the only daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Fred Taylor, and was born at Elysian in September, 1892. She was married to Lester Beardsley in June, 1913. The couple resided in this community for a few years after their marriage and also lived at Morristown for a time before moving to Hopkins, where Mr. Beardsley is engaged in the lumber business.
Services were held at Hopkins, Thursday afternoon, and the Rev. Gordon Paulson of the Hopkins Baptist Church was in charge of services there as well as at Elysian.
Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons, the Rev. Carlton Beardsley of Eagle Grove, Iowa, and Paul Beardsley of St. Louis Park; one brother, Frank E. Taylor of Elysian; and two grandchildren.
