Dora Ruth Aliff, 79, of Beckley, formerly of Pineville, went to be with the Lord on Monday, Nov. 7, 2005, following a long illness.

Born Jan. 9, 1926, at Pageton, she was the daughter of the late Charles B. Taylor (Deceased) and Ollie Sexton-Taylor (Deceased).

Mrs. Aliff was a member of Sunhill Methodist Church.

She was married to Albert Aliff (1920-1996) on January 30, 1946 in Pineville, Wyoming County, WV (per WV Marriage License Register, Wyoming County, WV, 1946, Page 327, Application Date: January 24, 1946).

Mrs. Aliff worked as a medical secretary for 25 years for the late Dr. Ned C. Rogers and Dr. V.S. Diwan of Pineville.

Many people will remember Mrs. Aliff for her gift of singing gospel music. She and her husband sang as a group called the Pineville Sacred Singers and also as the Happy Travelers.

Mrs. Aliff and her husband attended faithfully for 45 years the West Virginia State Gospel Singers Association at Mount Nebo. She also served as financial secretary for the association 16 of those years.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Aliff, was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Mr. Albert Aliff (1920-1996); and two brothers, Bud Taylor (Deceased) and Gene Taylor (Deceased).

Left to cherish her memory are a daughter, Peggy Jane Aliff-Huffman and husband, Larry, of Beckley (whom she affectionately referred to as her best buddy).

She was "mamaw" to grandchildren, Kristen Sisler and husband, Bill, of Fayetteville and LeAndrea Young of Beckley.

Mrs. Aliff was the great-grandmother of Kaitlyn, Whitney and Aaron Sisler.

She also leaves a brother, Ted Taylor and wife, Imogene, of Pasadena, MD; and sisters, Ruby Lea Taylor-Morgan (1930-2008) and husband, Mack Wayne Morgan (1926-2013), of Pineville and Betty Taylor-Graham and husband, Mickey, of Florida. She will be sadly missed by a host of nieces, nephews and many friends.

At her request, graveside services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny, with the Rev. Ronald Adkins officiating.
