Louise Marie (Thomas) Ferketich of Bensalem was peacefully called home by God on Sunday January 12, 2014 at the age of 86. She died at Aria Hospital in Bucks County after suffering a serious fall in her apartment at Wood River Village. Louise was born in Philadelphia on August 26, 1927 to Edwin L. Thomas and Matilda (Buchhoffer) Thomas. She was happily married to her true love John F. Ferketich for 52 years. Louise graduated from Bensalem High School and spent the remainder of her life in Bensalem, serving as a cub scout leader , a Democratic Committee Woman, among other things. She was a resourceful woman and worked in many different fields including working at Betz Laboratory in accounts payable for over 15 years. She loved dancing, bowling and spending time with her family and many friends. She attended Mass with her husband John at St. Charles Borromeo for over 50 years while still maintaining a close relationship with her extended church family at Liberty Evangelical Free Church in Philadelphia and Cornwells United Methodist in Bensalem. Louise is survived by her sisters, Cindy and Blanche, and her brother Leedom and his wife Charlotte. Louise also leaves behind 3 loving children: Gail Marie Wharfe, Lois Glenn (James), and John S. Ferketich (Lisa); her grandchildren: Deborah (Fiance Billy), Kristy (Jeffrey), Richard (Chrissy), Daniel and John ; and her great grandchildren; Julianna and Jude Thomas. Louise was blessed with a wonderful extended family including many nieces and nephews and cousins who will surely miss her as well. The family would like to thank the nursing staff at Aria Bucks County who made her last days very comfortable and peaceful. She was joyfully reunited with her parents, husband John, sister Edwina and her great grandchildren, Brandon and Mia. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Memorial Service Friday 11:00 am at the Cornwells United Methodist Church 2284 Bristol Pike, Bensalem, PA 19020 where friends call from 10:00 am until the time of service. Interment Forest Hills Cemetery, Phila.
