Is Dead at Age 82

Mrs. Kate Tidwell Allen, 82, widow of John M. Allen and resident of 1803 S. Willow St., died Friday in a local hospital after an extended illness.
Mrs. Allen was born in Georgia in 1879, the daughter of the late W. M. Tidwell and Mrs. Georgia Ann Kelley Tidwell, and the family came to Chattanooga when she was 6.
Mrs. Allen was a charter member of Second Baptist Church and was president of the Corcas Sunday School class for 16 years. She moved her church membership to Oak Grove Baptist five years ago.
She is survived by five daughters, Mrs. O. H. Robinson, Mrs. Earl Sismore and Mrs. C. A. Lieb, Chattanooga; Mrs. Auta McDonald, Detroit, and Mrs. W. W. Carrey, Peoria, Ill., two sons, David T. Allen, Chattanooga, and Leon Allen, Detroit; sister, Mrs. C. L. Offutt, Chattanooga. There are 17 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchidren; two nieces and two nephews.
Funeral plans will be announced. The body is at the Turner Funeral Home.

ALLEN --- MRS. KATE, 1803 S. Willow Street, mother of Mrs. O. H. Robinson and Mrs. Earl Sisemore, passed away Friday night in a local hospital after an extended illness.
Born in Georgia in 1879, the daughter if the late W. M. and Georgia Ann Kelley Tidwell, she moved to Chattanooga at the age of 6. She was married to the late John M. Allen. A charter member of the Second Baptist Church she was president of the Dorcas Sunday School class for 16 years.
She moved her church membership to Oak Grove Baptist Church during the last five years. A member of the Evangeline Chapter of the Eastern Star.
Other survivors include three more daughters, Mrs. C. A. Lieb, Chattanooga; Mrs. Auta McDonald, Detroit, Mich., and Mrs. W. W. Carrey, Peoria, Ill.; two sons, David T. Allen, Chattanooga, and Leon Allen, Detroit, Mich.; one sister, Mrs. C. L. Offutt, Chattanooga; 17 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren and severak great-great-grandchildren; two nieces and two nephews.
Funeral plans will be announced late by the Turner Funeral Home. The body will remain at the funeral home.
