Anne F. Paradiso, 85, passed away Monday, November 18, 2013 in Naples, FL.
Anne was born in New York on August 9, 1928. She resided at Homewood Residence of Naples, following 35 years as a resident of Rotonda West, FL. She previously lived in Mt. Arlington, NJ near Lake Hopatcong where she and her husband Don operated a summer amusement concession at Bertrand's Island Park.
Anne's parents, Luigi and Maria (Regina) Toto were immigrants from Grumo Appula, Bari, Italy. Her father was a shoemaker and her mother died at age 44 from breast cancer. Her father remarried and Anne was one of seven siblings. She became the core of her family, helping to raise her younger sister, Fran.
She is survived by two siblings, Fran Gillette of Netcong, NJ and Michael Toto of Englewood, FL; and step-sister, Mary Faiella of New Rochelle, NY.
Anne attended Public School 106 in Ozone Park, Queens, NY., where she grew up and met Don J. Paradiso: they were married November 28, 1948. They had eight children, seven boys and one girl.
She is predeceased by her sons, Gregory and Michael; and survived by her husband of 65 years, Don age 95; and her children, Gerard (Karen) of St. Augustine, FL; Don (Jane) of Naples, FL; Eugene (Marilyn) of Mt. Arlington, NJ; Joseph of Clinton, NJ; Thomas (Cheryl) of Sparta, NJ; and Grace of White Plains, NY; 14 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Anne met many friends through her church, St. Francis of Assisi in Englewood, FL, and numerous civic organizations. She was a faithful member for over 30 years, volunteered and organized a multitude of activities: bingo and rummage sales. Her faith was integral in her life and a main source of comfort.
She loved her macramé, ceramics, flowers, plants and feeding the cranes in her backyard. Anne was a skilled baker and cook, creating amazing holiday feasts for her large family that brought her tremendous joy. The accomplishment she valued the most was being a devoted wife and mother.
Anne always treated people with a smile and kind words. She was known for her compassionate, loving manner and warm embrace.
