age 77 of Homewood, beloved mother, nana and friend died Thursday, November 21, 2013. Patsy retired as Executive Administrative Assistant of AmSouth Bank, Green Springs branch in Homewood after 20+ years of service and was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
Patsy was preceded in death by her husband Philip Akins; beloved son Scott Akins; her parents Ernest and Lillian Tucker and sisters: Peggy Tucker Johnson and Dorothy Tucker Holcomb. She is survived by her sons: Michael (Barbara) Akins of Tampa, FL, and Russell Akins of Atlanta, GA., brothers: Ernest Tucker of San Diego, Tommy Tucker of Bluff Park, Charles Tucker of Atlanta, GA and Frank Tucker of Birmingham. She is also survived by her grandchildren that affectionately called her "Nana"; Lauren Akins, Michael Akins II, Haley Akins, Logan Akins, Catherine Akins, Dylan Akins, Matthew Akins and Annagrace Akins and by daughters-in-law: Janie Akins and Sherre Akins.
Patsy was a wonderful mother involved in the lives of her children. Her vibrant personality and smile was an inspiration to so many. She was a beautiful person who loved and was loved.
The Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at Ridout's Valley Chapel with visitation from 10:00 until 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens in Hoover.
