SPRINGFIELD - Purificacion "Puring" Garde, 81, of Springfield, died at 3:35 p.m. on Friday, December 4, 2009, at Memorial Medical Center.
Puring was born October 28, 1928, in Los Banos, Laguna in the Philippines, the daughter of Felix and Bartola Lim Valera. She married Benjamin A. Garde in Batangas, Philippines in 1955; he preceded her in death on March 27, 1993.
Puring had her degree in dentistry from Centro Escolar College of Dentistry in Manila, but was a homemaker for most of her life. Puring was a patient and loving woman. She was a great cook and also enjoyed flower gardening.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Pacifico Banzon, Francisco Banzon, Godfredo Banzon; and sister, Amparo Banzon.
She is survived by three sons, Joe (wife, Pam) Garde of West Chester, OH, Ben Garde of Springfield and Cesar (wife, Sharon) Garde of Boxborough, MA; two daughters, Rona Deopere of Springfield and Minda (husband, Mike) Paluga of Dallas, TX; six grandchildren, Kristen Garde, Alex Garde, Olivia and Noelle Paluga and Damon and Aaron Deopere; sister, Concepcion (husband, Richard) Peters of San Jose, CA; four nieces, Amie, Sandie, Evangeline and Teresita; and five nephews, Bill, Francisco Jr., Manuel, Walfredo and Wilfredo.
Family will receive friends from 9:00 to 10:15 a.m. on Monday, December 7, 2009, at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will follow at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Robert J. Jallas celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
