Doris V. Diekow, 102 years old of Binghamton died Easter Sunday, April 20, 2014 at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital. She was predeceased by her husband Carl A. Diekow and two brothers, Harold and Richard VanBuskirk. She is survived by her children, Rayma Gover, Muncy, PA, William and Judy Diekow, Roanoke, VA, David Diekow, Binghamton; five grandchildren, Deborah and Scott Altizer, Lorraine Earls, Beth and Joseph Justice, Linda and Scott Richmond, Colleen Diekow; 13 great grandchildren; two great, great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church, Binghamton. Doris graduated from Cortland Normal School and taught in the Binghamton School District. She was former co-owner of Baird's Better Bakery in Binghamton. She was a member of the Eastern Star and Daughters of the Nile and was an avid bingo player. Funeral services will be held at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton Thursday at 1:30 p.m. Reverend Ernest A. Steffensen will officiate. Burial will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the McCormack Funeral Home Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in memory of Doris may be made to Shriner's Hospital for Children, 51 Blossom Street, Boston, MA 02114
