Edward L. "Doc" Van Hoozen, 85, of Hebron, IL passed away Sunday, February 14, 2016 in Sarasota FL.

He was born in Woodstock, Illinois on June 12, 1930, a son of the late Lee and Lucy (Harrison) Van Hoozen.

He was married to Elaine J. (Cates) on Sept. 17, 1955, in Alden, IL and she passed away Nov. 6, 2009.

He was a graduate of Alden High School in 1948, then attended NIU, receiving his dental degree from Northwestern Dental School in 1958. He practiced in Hebron, IL for many years, retiring in the year 2000.

He served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War, receiving the Bronze Star.

He was an avid motorcycle rider and enthusiast, a snowmobile enthusiast, plus he loved golfing and fishing.

Edward is survived by two sons Brian (Kathlene) Van Hoozen, of Seymour, WI; Brent (Chi) Van Hoozen, of Roseville, CA; three grandsons, Christopher, Calvin and Brian Van Hoozen, Jr.; a sister Helen Rhodes, of Stockton, CA; a brother, Dexter (Joan) Van Hoozen, of St. Germain, WI.

Visitation will be 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday, February 20, 2016 at Ehorn-Adams Funeral Home 9625 Main St, Hebron, IL.

Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Sunday February 21, 2016 at Alden United Methodist Church, 16532 IL RT 173, Harvard, IL, with Rev. Eric Blachford officiating.

Interment will be in Alden Cemetery in Alden IL.
