Daniel Lynn Van Orsdale of Cochranville Daniel Lynn Van Orsdale, 87, of Cochranville, passed away at his home on Monday, March 28, 2011. He was the beloved husband of Jacqueline Freeman Van Orsdale, with whom he shared 63 years of marriage. Born in Baltimore, Md., he was the son of the late Lynn F. and Mabel O. Simmons Van Orsdale. Dan served honorably in the U.S. Army during WWII in the European Theater with the 556th AAA Battalion, Battery C. After the war, he continued his education in electrical engineering and later was employed by IBM retiring with 37 years of service. He was a member of the Manor Presbyterian Church of Cochanville and Civitan International. He also volunteered with Habitat for Humanity and the Special Olympics. He is survived, in addition to his wife, by one daughter, Lynn V., wife of David A. Brown of Atglen and four grandchildren, Amanda, Joseph, Daniel and Eliza Brown. He was preceded in death by two children, David S. and Patricia Gayle Van Orsdale. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 1, in the Faggs Manor Cemetery, 505 Street Road, Cochranville. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Wilde Funeral Home of Parkesburg.
