Herman E. Wagner Is Taken By Death
   Herman E. Wagner died this morning at 12:15 at his home, 135 Scott Street, city, following a lengthy illness. Mr. Wagner, 78, underwent a major operation last April.
   A son of the late Herman and Philippa Hilbert Wagner, he was a lifelong resident of the East End section of Wilkes-Barre. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a sheet metal worker for various contractors in Wyoming Valley.
   He was a charter member of the Sheet Metal Worker's Union, No. 44, Wilkes-Barre, and held various offices in the organization. Mr. Wagner was a communicant of Christ Lutheran Church.
   Surviving are his wife, the former Sophia Umbewust, Wilkes-Barre; a sister, Mrs. Raymond Van Horn, Hunlock Creek, and several nieces and nephews.
   The funeral will be held from the Kniffen Funeral Home, 465 South Main Street, Friday afternoon at 3. Rev. Harold G. Dejsher, pastor of Christ Lutheran Church, will officiate. Interment will be in Oaklawn Cemetery.
   Friends may call tonight 7 to 10, and tomorrow 3 to 5 and 7 to 10 p.m.
