Elizabeth was born in Scotland, the daughter of William McFarland and Mary Paisley. She immigrated to America about 1892, first settling in Westbrook, Cumberland County, Maine. She married Mark Wallace there on Dec. 28, 1894. Their first child, Elizabeth Rogers Wallace, was born there also, in Feb. 1896. But by the arrival of their second child, Mary B., on Dec. 21, 1897, they had settled in Lawrence, MA and remained in the Lawrence/Methuen area until their deaths.
