"Jean Elizabeth Hughes Walter, a life long resident of Arbuckle and Dunnigan, passed away at the age of 90 on Saturday, December 11, 2011. The beloved wife of John Herman Walter for 70 blessed years.
"Jean is survived by husband John, sons Steve and Bob, their wives Sara and Michelle, and four truly loved grandchildren, Kelli, Brent, John, and Zack. Surviving beloved nieces are Judi, Jackie, Janet and Tami.
"Born in 1921 in Woodland to parents Edwin and Georgia Hughes, Jean was raised in Dunnigan and graduated from Pierce High School in 1939. John and Jean joined together in marriage in 1941. Jean's only absence from Arbuckle-Dunnigan was in Hattiesburg, Mississippi during WW II while John was overseas and has resided on 2nd Street in Arbuckle for the last 60 years.
"Jean was a wonderful wife, mother, and homemaker, and was much loved by all in Arbuckle. Her happiness and enjoyment of life was shared by everyone she encountered, as can be attested by numerous friendships and loving family members.
"Memorial services will be held in Arbuckle in the Methodist Church on Friday, Dec. 9 at 11:00. Visitation can be made at McNary-Moore funeral services in Colusa, 107 5th street on Thursday, Dec. 8 from 2:00 until 6:00. Donations to either United Arbuckle Methodist Church, 600 Pendelton St. Arbuckle 95912 or Arbuckle Fire Department 506 Lucas St. Arbuckle 95912, are greatly appreciated."
