Daughter of William Hulme Warburton and Agnes Jennie Neuf Warburton. She married Forrest L. Baird in 1938.
Obituary from San Jose Mercury News, March 11, 2012:
"Mildred (Millie) was born in Dinuba, California and was a third generation Californian. Her great grandfather was Dr. HHW, who settled in Santa Clara before the gold rush. Her great aunt Mary Den Warburton was niece of Concepcion Arguello, sweetheart of the Russian prince of Bret Harte fame. She graduated from San Jose State with majors in Speech and English. She earned her teaching credential and was a junior high school teacher.
She was married to her beloved husband Dr. Forrest Baird for 63 years before he passed away in 2001. They met at Lake Tahoe in 1937 and were married in 1938. After they retired in 1971 they traveled the world several times and their preferred mode of passage was as guests on global shipping lines. They visited Africa, the Panama Canal and enjoyed a 135 day voyage around South America in a 6 passenger freighter. Mildred was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of San Jose, a 60 year member of the PEO and a member of Eastern Star for over 70 years. Mildred had a deep faith, a love of life and an unconditional love for her family. She loved to read and you'd find her with a warm smile, shining eyes, and her nose in a word puzzle. Millie collected thimbles. She started collecting them in 1969 and had over 700, each meticulously cataloged. She is survived by her nieces and nephews and their extensive families who loved and adored her. Millie was an eloquent, gracious lady who made each of us a better person just by knowing her. She will be greatly missed.
Millie's memorial will be held on March 24th, 2:00 pm. Sunny View recreation center. 22445 Cupertino Rd., Cupertino CA."
