Winifred married James Kearns around 1840 in Maine. She and James lived in Benedicta Plantation, Maine in the early years of their marriage. The family moved to Penobscot County in 1860. She and James had 8 children.
Winifred moved to the Boston, Massachusetts area upon the death of James in 1868. Her daughter, Catherine Kearns McGroty, came to live with her mother in Boston when she, too, became a widow in 1868. The family lived on Pynchon Street and later on Washington Court for many years.
Winifred passed away in Boston in 1894 at the age of 72 years.
