The Malone Farmer June 11, 1902

Mrs. Sewell Bruce, one of Bloomingdale's
respected residents, died at the home
of her daughter, Mrs. James Murray, two
weeks ago. Mrs. Bruce was born in Lewis,
Essex county, N. Y., 67 years ago. She
lived in Bloomingdale for 35 years and
has always been an active member of the
M. E. church. She went to bed in as apparently
good health as usual, but on going
to call her in the morning she was dead.
She leaves four daughters and two sons.

—Mrs. Bruce, widow of the late
Sewell Bruce was found dead in bed
Tuesday morning. She was stopping (visiting)
with her daughter, Mrs. James Murray,
who lives in Vermontville. As she
did not appear at the usual time Tuesday
morning, Mrs. Murray went to
call her, and found her as she thought,
unconscious. A doctor was hastily called
but it was found she had been dead
for some time, heart failure being the
cause. Mrs. Bruce was an active member
of the M. E. church of this place
her funeral will be held from that
church today at 2 p. m.
