Obituary for Carol Jean Colpaert

Carol Jean (Weier) Colpaert, 75 years, a lifelong resident of Monroe, MI went home to be with the Lord on Friday, November 22, 2013 at Mercy Memorial Hospital.

Born December 22, 1937 in Monroe, Carol was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Ada (Conn) Weier. Carol attended St. John's Grade School and St. Mary's Academy. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church in Monroe.

On February 16, 1957 Carol married her beloved husband Donald F. Colpaert at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church. The Rev. Alfred Renaud performed the double ring ceremony.

Carol worked as a clerk for Cunningham's Drug Store and then for Meijer, from which she retired.

Carol was a member of St. Michael The Archangel Catholic Church where she served as a Lector for many years. Carol volunteered at Mercy Memorial Hospital and enjoyed square dancing, bowling, and fishing in the family boat. More than anything Carol loved time spent with family and friends.

Carol is survived by her beloved husband of 56 years, Don, three loving children: Larry D. (Concetta) Colpaert of Monroe, Lynette D. (Steven) Oerther of Jackson, MI, and Luann Colpaert of Monroe, nine cherished grandchildren: Raymond (Christina) Cousino, Stephanie and Heather Oerther, Aaron (Emily) Colpaert, Grace and Trevor Farris, Aleesha and Alanna Colpaert and Danielle Madej, two treasured great grandchildren: R.J. and Hunter Cousino, and three sisters: Marie Noe of Tazewell, TN, Frances (Richard) Russeau of Monroe and Linda Weier of Toledo, OH. In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by three sisters and four brothers.

Visitation will be held on Monday from 1-8 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe, MI 48161 where a Prayer Service will be held at 6:00 PM that evening. On Tuesday, November 26, 2013 she will lie in state at St. Michael The Archangel Catholic Church from 10:00 AM until Mass of the Resurrection celebrating her life at 11:00 AM. Fr. Stephen Vileo, pastor of the church will officiate. A private family inurnment will be held at St. Joseph Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to St. Michael's Food Pantry or The Salvation Army.
