Ridgeway - Elaine D. Weier, age 79, of Ridgeway, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, September 27, 2007 at Upland Hills Nursing & Rehab Center in Dodgeville, after a courageous battle with cancer. Elaine was born on June 14, 1928 to Arthur and Helen (Ula) Kammerud. She grew up and attended school in the Blanchardville area. On October 2, 1946, Elaine married Norbert Weier. Together they farmed in the Ridgeway area for many years. Elaine was a member of St. Bridget's Catholic Church and its Altar Society. She loved spending time with her family helping to raise her grandchildren and she also enjoyed baking and cooking particularly during the holidays.
Elaine is survived by her loving children, Mary (Dennis) Dickinson, of Dodgeville, Joan (Mike) Hendrickson, of Hollandale, Denny (Joyce) Weier, Dave (Janie) Weier, John (Barb) Weier, Mark Weier, Barb (Ed) Blum, Laurie (Bruce) McCluskey, all of Ridgeway; twenty-two grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; her siblings, Don (Deborah) Kammerud, Dorothy Humphrey, Beatrice (Fred) Olsen, Howard (Faye) Kammerud, Jim (Carol) Hendrickson, Jack (Arlene) Udelhofen, Mary Udelhofen, Margaret Ebeneter, Dottie (Chuck) Emery; her sister-in-law, Aldora Kammerud; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norbert, on October 11, 1976, her parents, and her three brothers, Larry, Sheldon and Otis Kammerud.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 1, 2007 at ST. BRIDGET'S CATHOLIC CHURCH in Ridgeway. Burial will be held in St. Bridget's Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday at the GORGEN-McGINLEY & AYERS FUNERAL HOME in Dodgeville, where a parish rosary service will be held at 8:00 p.m. Friends may also call from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass on Monday at the church.
