Ridgeway - Betty E. Weier, age 83, of Ridgeway, passed away peacefully into her heavenly father's arms on Monday, April 7, 2008 at Bloomfield Manor. She was born on February 25, 1925 in Lafayette County, a daughter of the late Arie and Hilda (Laufgren) Ballard. Her and her family grew up in the Lafayette and Green County areas. On September 6, 1950, she married Bernard Weier in St. Bridget's Catholic Church in Ridgeway. She was a member of St. Bridget's Catholic Church and its Altar Society and was a past Den Mother for Cub Scouts. Betty had a great love for children, including those who she babysat for. She also loved animals, flowers, gardening, nature, crocheting and was a fabulous baker.

Betty is survived by her husband of 57 years, Bernard; her children, Mike Weier, of Portage, Kathryn (Dan) Fargo, of Blanchardville, Gene (Deb) Weier, of DeForest, Julie (Keith) Mallder, of Sun Prairie, Rick Weier, of Ridgeway; ten grandchildren, Marc (Rebecca) Weier, Melissa (Charlie) Kirk, Tonia Kastner, Nicholas Fargo, Beth Fargo, Shelly Aguilara, Elizabeth (Mike) Anderson, Audrey (Kasey) Pershing, Michael Mallder and Marisa Mallder; seven great grandchildren; three brothers, Howard (Evelyn) Ballard, of Rockford, IL, Burnell Ballard, of Loves Park, IL, Russell Ballard, of Monroe; many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Sarah, her grandson, Jordan, two sisters and four brothers.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 10, 2008 at ST. BRIDGET'S CATHOLIC CHURCH in Dodgeville. Father Tait Schroeder will officiate. Burial will be held in St. Bridget's Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the GORGEN-McGINLEY & AYERS FUNERAL HOME in Dodgeville and from 10:00 a.m. until time of mass on Thursday at the church.
