MARY JANE (WEIGEL) BAFUS
December 1, 1933 ~ February 8, 2017

Mary Jane Bafus, 83, passed away peacefully in Vancouver, Washington on February 8, 2017. She was born on December 1, 1933 to Herman and Estelle Weigel of Oregon City, Oregon. Her family also included her loving sister and best friend, Erma.

Mary was married to Reuben Bafus on December 5, 1953. They lived most of their 57 years of marriage on their 120 acre farm in Camas, Washington. Mary also loved her vacation home in Seaside, Oregon where she was often found walking the beach and conversing with other beach lovers.

Everyone who knew Mary found her sweetness a joy. She was known as "the pink lady" over her love of the color pink and its proliferation in her world. She could be found every Sunday at church with a plate of cookies and candies that she passed out to everyone she saw. Mary also loved to sing and shared her repertoire of sassy songs with many of the friends she made at her assisted living home later in life. Her coy smile always left her friends wondering what thoughts were behind that mischievous grin.

Mary's faith in God was the bulwark of her life. She openly shared her love for Jesus with everyone she met, and Mary always said, "I've never met a stranger." She loved people and warmly shared her confidence in her eternal hope.

Mary is survived by three children: George (and Annette) Bafus of Camas, Washington, Brenda (and Kevin) Williams of Montrose, Colorado, and Ruby (and Spencer) Hinds of Bellingham, Washington; son-in-law Karl Martin of Camas, Washington; five granddaughters and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband Reuben and daughter Marie Martin of Camas, Washington.

A service celebrating Mary's life was held at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Vancouver, Washington on Sunday, February 12, 2017.

Donations may be made to Muscular Dystrophy Association at mda.org.
