Mrs. Ira Billings died at her home at Lucas on Saturday, February 27, after a very brief illness, supposed to be heart failure, thus her death came as a shock to her family and friends. Funeral services were held at Lucas on Monday and interment took place at Bethel Chapel, in Clarke County.

She was a native of Lucas County and was about sixty years of age. Early in life she was married to Ira Billings, who, with five children survive her, and was one of a family of six children, James Welch, of this city, being a brother.

Mrs. Ira D. Billings.

Mrs. Ira D. Billings departed this life at her home in Lucas on February 27, 1909, at the age of 61 years, 6 months and 6 days. Largely attended funeral services, conducted by Rev. A. F. Darrell, were held on the following Tuesday afternoon at 1 o'clock at Bethel Chapel, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Bethel cemetery.

Diana J. Welch, daughter of Andrew and Nancy Welch, was born in West Virginia on September 11, 1848. On Aug. 11, 1872, she was united in marriage to Ira D. Billings. To this union nine children were born, three of whom preceded her to the better world. Those living are Mrs. Myrtle Wright, of Boone; Mrs. Effie Bales, of Milo; Henry, of Red Oak; Mrs. Rosa Southward, James and Blanche, of Lucas. These, with the husband, father and five brothers, who survive, will have the sympathy of many friends in their grief. Deceased was converted in 1864, in the old school house near where Bethel Chapel now stands, under the labors of Revs. K. D. Wolf and Chas. Griffen, and united with the Church of Christ in Christian Union at that place, and has since been a faithful member, always doing what she could for the blessed Master.

Card of Thanks.
I desire to thank my neighbors and friends for their great kindness to me during the sickness and death of my beloved wife, Dianah.
