Margaret F. Beutin, 72, of Dubuque, died Saturday, March 31, 2007, at Luther Manor, surrounded by family.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 4, at Holy Ghost Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, at Hoffmann Schneider and Kitchen Funeral Home, 3860 Asbury Road, where there will be a wake service at 8 p.m.

She was born on May 19, 1934, in Kansas City, Mo., daughter of Frank and Margaret M. (Gallagher) Welch. She married William J. Beutin on April 27, 1957, in Kansas City; he died on Dec. 28, 2001.

Mrs. Beutin was employed as the activity director of the Sisters of Mount Carmel Convent BVM. She was an Associate BVM.

She was a member of Holy Ghost Catholic Church, was past president of the Parents Association at Area Residential Care, started the first day care center for the mentally handicapped in Dubuque and was on the Care Review Committee at Sunnycrest Manor.

Margaret was very proud of her Irish heritage, always had a smile on her face and was ready to lend a hand to anyone in need. She always enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and friends, and her home became the neighborhood gathering place.

Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Barb Beutin, of Dubuque, and their children, Nathan, Abigail and Connor; four daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and Terry Jurisic, of Eldridge, Iowa, and their children, Nicole, Josh and Stephanie; Peggy and Mike Kennedy, of Dubuque, and their children, Melissa, Jennifer and Matthew; Teri and Dan Metz, of Eldridge, and their children, Jessica and Jeremy; and Patti and Steve Kiefer, of Dubuque, and their children, Austin, Brandon and Cody; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Frank and Eugenia Welch, Joe and Colleen Welch, John and Gazelle Welch and Jim and Nancy Welch; and four sisters and brothers-in-law, Patti and Edmund Packiewicz, Genny and Chuck Packiewicz, Eileen Baumgardner and Mary Welch.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Michael Beutin; a brother, Tim Welch; and a grandson, Christopher.
