Succumbed to Typhoid Fever on Saturday morning at 8:15 a.m. after 28 days of suffering. The first attack was a form of the grippe. She was only 48 years of age.
RELIGION: She was devout in her faith, Methodist Episcopal. She attended the First M. E. Church of Cortlandt until St. Paul's M. E. Church was organized. She was received on probation on February 19, 1865 by the Rev. J. Y. Bates. On October 1, 1865, she was received in full membership at the church. At the time of her death, she was a member of the Home Department of the Sunday School. She was an active member of the Woman's Home and Foreign Missionary Society and the Ladies Aid Society of St. Paul's Methodist Episcopal Church. She had been a member of the Ladies' Musical Club and had joined the Women's Christian Temperance Union recently.
EARLY LIFE: She was one of three children born to John Devine Wessells and Mary E Sweet. She lived her whole life in the village of Peekskill.
