Pearlie Wheat Freeman, age 92, of Columbus, MS, passed away April 22, 2012, at Trinity Healthcare. Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 25, 2012, at 11:00 AM at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Ray officiating and Rev. Henry Freeman assisting. The interment will immediately follow at Friendship Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 24, 2012, from 6:00-8:00 PM and one hour prior to the service at Memorial Funeral Home. Mrs. Freeman was born February 2, 1920, in Pickens County, AL, to the late Johnny and Naomi Baines Gilbert. She retired from Seminole Manufacturing and was a resident of Trinity Place Retirement Community. Mrs. Freeman was a member of McBee Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Lacy Freeman. Survivors include her sons, Lacy Freeman of Steens, MS, and Henry Freeman and his wife Gaila of Ellisville, MS, brother, Elbert Wheat of Steens, sisters, Betty Freeman of Columbus, MS, Virginia Dowdle of Columbus, MS, and Frances Lindsey of Reform, AL, sister-in-law, Dorothy Freeman of Steens, MS, grandchildren, Tim Freeman and Audra Sanford, great grandchildren, Brent Freeman, Brody Freeman, and Zack Sanford, and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Tim Freeman, Brent Freeman, Brody Freeman, Dennis Sanford, Zack Sanford, and Rev. Bill Webb. Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of McBee Baptist Church, Dr. Brad Brown, nurses and staff of the 3rd floor of Baptist Memorial Hospital, and nurses and staff of Trinity Healthcare. Memorials may be made to McBee Baptist Church, 2846 Hwy 50 East, Columbus, MS, 39702.
