Mrs. Myrtie M. Battenfield, 84, of 504 S. Orange Street, Kalkaska, died Friday evening, Sept 12, 1975, at the Grand Traverse Medical Care Facility following a lingering illness. She was born in Sidney Michigan on June 20, 1891, daughter of the late Ellsworth and Jennie Snyder. She moved to Fife Lake at the age of 5 years, and lived in Kalkaska County the remainder of her life. On July 20, 1907, she was united in marriage with John Battenfield in Fife Lake. He preceded her in death on Sept. 29, 1966. Mrs. Battenfield was a member of the Church of Christ and the Rebekah Lodge. Surviving are 2 sons, Glenn Battenfield of Wyoming, Michigan, and John Battenfield of Newaygo; 1 daughter, Mrs. Garnett (Jennie) Davis of Traverse City; 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 15, 1975, at the Schwartz-Wolfe Funeral Home, Kalkaska. Eddie Bratton, pastor of the Kalkaska Church of Christ, officiated. Burial was in Springfield Township Cemetery, Kalkaska County.
