She was born August 12, 1918, in Heidelberg, Mississippi to Lewis and Clantha Wheeler. Wilma Barbour was the youngest of twelve children. Her father was a farmer and her mother was a homemaker and a seamstress.
Wilma Barbour married George Bell in the 1930's. He died of an illness just before the daughter, Doris, was born in 1938. She then married Pete Barbour in the 1960's and divorced him in the late 1970's.
Wilma Barbour's interest included family, gardening, cooking, sewing and making hats. She also worked 33 years at Uniroyal Tire Company.
She is survived by her only child: Doris Gregory; son-in-law: Ocie Gregory; four grand-daughters: Anita Williams, Karen James, Diana Pinkerton, and Sharon Vitale; and one grand-son: Ocie Gregory Jr.; seven great-grandsons and five great grand-daughters; four great-great grandsons; and a host of relatives and friends.
