Ben Whitaker, 95, resident of Cherokee Village, Arkansas for 35 years and formerly of Memphis, passed away April 8, 2013 at Fulton County Hospital in Salem, Arkansas. He was born June 19, 1917, to the late William Ben Sr. and Claudia Harrell Whitaker. Mr. Whitaker, an avid golfer, retired from the Defense Depot in Memphis and was a veteran of World War II serving the U.S. Army Air Corps. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Mary Weinstein Whitaker, and he will be missed by his family and caring neighbors. A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m., Friday, April 12, at Memorial Park Cemetery. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Mary Weinstein Whitaker; and niece Carole McCaig of Clarksville, Tenn. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends and fellow golfers.
